Somehow, sometime, a lot of the old negatives I’d been trying to store in folders (in negative slips, no less) got damaged and stuck into their slips. The more recent shots are less affected, but pretty much everything pre-2003 is scratched to hell. This was also the period when I was using those photo albums with sticky pages, which trash the photos if you ever try to get them out again for scanning purposes. I’m trying (slowly) to rescue what I can and salvage some of the worst with postprocessing, using photoshop to clean up scratched and so on. This is one of the rescue bids – the only copy I have of it is a blown-up version that’s been pinned to various walls or stored in various folders between moves. The Zambezi River, Zambia, June 2000.
